To The Secretary.
sir,
Junior Asst. Mastersly. Hong Kong
Scotch Education Department.
Whitehall,
LONDON. S.T.
I am favoured with yours of 26th November, and have
much pleasure in camending Mr. James Ralston, of 17 Lawrence
Street, Dowanhill, to the position of a Junior Assistant kaster
in Hong Kong. Mr. Ralston was with me as a boy in the
Sabbath School of which I am Superintendent, and on passing
through the Senior Class, undertook the teaching of a Class of
small boys. These have grown up under his care, and I can see
from the way he holds them that he is well suited for such work.
He also takes a good lead in the general work of the School,
and is a young man in whom I have much confidence both as to
excellency of character, and as to ability. He is a Master of
Arts of Glasgow University, of pleasing manner, and I can judge from his experience in the Hilton Public School, and guided by
what I have seen of him in the Sabbath School, that he should be a very suitable man to occupy the position for which he is
applying.
I am,
Youre faithfully,
